Officiating at the Font

In 1953-1961 I worked at the Logan Temple each Saturday morning. I was the confirmer. That was back in the days when we confirmed them after the baptism.  The baptismal font had three stairways one entrance and the one to the west was the exit. On the north side of the font was another set of steps leading up to an old wood chair where the proxies were confirmed. There were two proxies in the baptismal font at all times, the first one would get baptized and jump up in the chair and as soon as he was confirmed he would jump back down and get baptized again. Usually each proxy had 25-30 names. The proxies were young adult who came from all over the valley. Sometimes a bus load would come from Bear Lake by appointment. The confirmer would trade off after 100 names or so and be the other person to lay hands on their head.
